The Ice Walk

Canada

It is hard to believe how deep the water freezes on this lake. Huge chunks of ice are piled up on the shoreline of the lake showing the depth of the frozen ice. I am not even sure how deep this lake is in the center but the frozen water holds bubbles in the ice caused by methane gasses trapped under the ice. Not a bad idea to wear ice cleats when shooting out here, everything is a bit slippery. Photo © copyright by Laurie R. Martin.
